Rajasthan Government / 10 years jail for forced religious conversion- Bhajan Lal government approves the bill

In Rajasthan, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal's cabinet has approved the anti-conversion bill. There will be a punishment of 10 years for forced conversion. In case of changing religion voluntarily, the collector will have to be informed 60 days in advance. Many important proposals including New Energy Policy, Seventh Finance Commission and Mineral Policy 2024 were also approved.

Rajasthan Government: Many important decisions were taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal, in which the anti-conversion bill has been approved. This bill has been brought with the aim of preventing forced religious conversion and ensuring religious freedom. This bill will be introduced in the assembly in the upcoming budget session.

Anti-Conversion Bill: Main Provisions

Provision of strict punishment: The guilty will be sentenced to up to 10 years in jail for forced conversion.

Conversion by choice: It will be mandatory for any person to inform the District Collector 60 days in advance before converting to another religion voluntarily.

Inclusion of constitutional provisions: The bill includes provisions related to religious freedom and management of religion under Articles 25 and 26 of the Constitution.

Giving information about this bill, Law Minister Jogaram Patel said that this law will try to stop forced conversion while respecting the religious freedom of the people.

Reference to Articles 25 and 26

Article 25: Provides every citizen the freedom to profess, propagate and follow the religion of his choice.

Article 26: Provides freedom to religious institutions to manage their affairs.

Other major decisions of the Cabinet

Apart from the anti-conversion bill, many other important decisions were taken in this meeting:

Renewable Energy Policy: A new policy was approved to promote renewable energy in the state.

Urban Development: Development authorities will be formed in Bharatpur and Bikaner.

Recruitment Processes:

Recruitment will be done through RPSC in Unani and Ayurvedic departments.

The minimum qualification for the post of constable in RAC has been fixed as 12th pass.

Mineral Policy 2024:

M-Sand Policy will be implemented to end the monopoly of gravel mining.

Seventh Finance Commission: Seventh Finance Commission was constituted to promote economic development in the state.

Conversion of Dalit Land: Very low rates have been fixed for the conversion of land of Dalit community.

Goal of development of the state

The cabinet meeting set a target of increasing the state's GDP by 8% and providing employment to one crore people.
