A fire broke out in a three-storey commercial building near Mundka metro station in Delhi on Friday evening. 27 people died in the accident. Now 10 people are seriously injured. Firefighters reached the spot, broke windows and rescued some people trapped inside the building. The fire was reported at 4.40 pm. The fire was brought under control after about 7 hours. NDRF team is reaching the spot.

There is a CCTV factory and warehouse on the first floor of the building, the fire in it took a severe form and engulfed the entire building. A large number of workers were working in the factory. Due to the very congested place, there was a lot of trouble in the rescue operation. The rescue operation could not start soon as the entry and exit of the building were the same. The injured have been admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital. The search has been completed for two of the three floors of the building. Search is on for the third floor. Delhi Fire Director Atul Garg said that 27 bodies have been recovered so far. There was plenty of stuff in the building. Due to this, it became very difficult to put out the fire.

30-40 people still trapped

30-40 people are still reported to be inside the building. Several companies had offices in the building. About 150 people have been rescued from here. 100 people have been deployed at the spot for relief and rescue work.

27 fire brigade vehicles present on the spot

People were brought down with the help of JCB machines and cranes amidst the smoke coming out of the windows of the building, while some people also came down with the help of ropes. Sunil Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Delhi Fire Service said that some people themselves jumped from the building, injuring them. He has been taken to the hospital. The cause of the fire is said to be short circuit.

At present, 27 fire brigade vehicles are present at the spot, the fire has been brought under control. Along with this, arrangements for ambulances have also been made on the spot to provide immediate treatment to the injured. People from nearby villages also reached the spot and helped in saving the people.

Delhi Police arrested the owner of the building

Delhi Police said that this building, built near Pillar 544 of Metro Station, is a 3-storey commercial building, which is given on rent to companies as office space. Police said that the fire started from the first floor of the building, which houses the CCTV camera and router manufacturing company. The police have arrested the owners of the company Harish Goyal, Varun Goyal.

That's why the accident took a big form

Local people told that the space in the building was less and more people were working. In such a situation, when the fire broke out, there was chaos, due to which people could not escape from themselves and became victims of the accident. There was a CCTV warehouse here. The flames in the warehouse became even more intense, forcing firefighters to put out the blaze.

President Ram Nath Kovind, PM Narendra Modi and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal have expressed grief over the incident. PM Modi said- I am deeply saddened by the death of the people. My condolences are with the bereaved families. I wish the injured a speedy recovery. Home Minister Amit Shah has expressed grief over the accident. He said that I am in constant touch with the officials. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has also condoled the accident.

NDRF team is reaching the spot.

An announcement has been made to provide Rs 2 lakh each to the next of kin of the dead and Rs 50,000 each to the injured from the PM Relief Fund.

Delhi Police has made a corridor from the spot to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, so that the injured can be taken to the hospital easily.

More than 100 people were deployed on the spot for relief and rescue work.

Several companies had offices in the building. About 150 people have been rescued from here.
