Virat Kohli, one of the world's star batsmen, left the captaincy of the RCB team after IPL 2021. Since then RCB is looking for a new captain. Now Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Director of Cricket Operations Mike Hesson said on Saturday that the franchise will decide on its captain after the IPL mega auction to be held in 2022 ends. In the IPL Mega Auction, the RCB team has roped in many great players.

This player can be captain

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Director of Cricket Operations Mike Hesson has said that RCB will decide on the new captain after the IPL mega auction. On the first day of the auction, on Saturday, Bangalore picked Faf du Plessis, Dinesh Karthik, Josh Hazlewood, Anuj Rawat and Akash Deep to repurchase last year's players Harshal Patel and Wanindu Hasaranga. Hesson said in the virtual press conference, 'We have not discussed that yet. We have three incredible leaders in our team - Maxwell, Virat and Faf, we are really happy with those three leaders. Also, we have got a bowler leader like Josh Hazlewood, so really happy. We will take a decision about the captaincy after the auction.

Big price paid for Harshal Patel

Mike Hesson expressed happiness over buying back Harshal Patel, who was the highest wicket-taker in the 2021 edition with 32 wickets and made his T20I debut in India against New Zealand last year. Bangalore faced a whopping amount of 10.75 crores in the previous attempts of Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings. He said, “We are very happy as a group. We worked very hard trying to get back our origins for this year. It turned out to be very difficult at times, but we were happy to have Harshal Patel back. I think getting 10.75 crores from all the all-rounders we saw, from Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur and for a proven artiste like Harshal was a good buy. We are really happy to have him back.'

This Sri Lankan spinner was included

RCB have roped in Sri Lanka's mysterious spinner Wanindu Hasaranga at a hefty cost. Hesson backed the specialist skills of Sri Lankan leg-spin all-rounder Hasaranga in Yuzvendra Chahal's absence, who was dropped by Rajasthan Royals. Hesson said, “In terms of Wanindu Hasaranga, last year we had other options with Chahal as the local spinner. He gives us balance and has the ability to bat anywhere between five to eight and has some special skills in that area. He can bowl. Powerplay and middle order too. He has some skills.

This wicketkeeper was also involved

Hesson is happy to have Karthik, who has entered RCB after 2015. “We are really happy with the middle order and have also liked DK, who gives us experience through the middle and is really important to control something. We have got more talented players.
