Firing in BSF Camp Amritsar / Angry with duty, BSF jawan fired indiscriminately and killed four comrades, then shot himself

An angry jawan opened fire on his own comrades on Sunday morning at the Khasa Headquarters of the Border Security Force in Amritsar. After firing on his comrades, the jawan shot himself too. Five jawans including the accused have died in the firing.

According to the information, 144 battalion of BSF is stationed at BSF Khasa headquarters, located about 13 km from Amritsar. Constable Sattappa SK was getting angry with his officers regarding the duty on the border.

He opened indiscriminate fire with his service rifle in the mess on Sunday morning. After firing at his comrades, he shot himself too. Five jawans including Sattappa were killed in the firing. At the same time, half a dozen personnel of the force were injured, who have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.

An official said that the incident took place between 9.30 am and 10.45 am on Sunday. Constable Sateppa SK used his service rifle. The incident took place in the premises of the 144th Battalion in Khasa area, about 12-13 km from the Attari-Wagah border. The casualties include constable and head constable rank personnel. A BSF spokesperson said that a Court of Inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the facts of the incident.
