India / Anyone who calls farmers terrorists not worth calling humans: Maharashtra CM

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for labelling protesting farmers as terrorists and said that people who say such things for "annadata" are not worthy of being called humans.

He also lashed out at former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis for claiming there is an undeclared emergency in the state and questioned the state of affairs in Delhi.

While speaking to media, Uddhav Thackeray said, "Devendra Fadnavis alleged that there is an undeclared emergency in Maharashtra. So, what is happening in Delhi?"

"You are calling 'annadata' as terrorists. Anyone who calls farmers as terrorists is not worth being called a human," added the Maharashtra CM.

Thackeray's attack has come a day after Union Minister Piyush Goyal alleged that the ongoing farmers' protest against the controversial farm laws has been taken over by "Naxals and Maoists".

Meanwhile, another Union Minister and Maharashtra BJP leader Raosaheb Danve had stirred a controversy when he claimed that China and Pakistan were behind the protests being staged by farmers, inviting sharp reactions from various quarters.

Farmers have been protesting against the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020; the Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act 2020.
