Industrial unrest has surfaced in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, following similar reports of labor movements in Noida. Workers at Suprajit Engineering Limited, located in the Chopanki Industrial Area, initiated a sudden protest demanding a significant hike in their wages. The situation turned volatile when the protesting employees, including a large number of women workers, moved out of the factory premises and attempted to block the main roads, disrupting traffic flow in the industrial hub.
Escalation of Protest and Road Blockade
According to reports, Suprajit Engineering Limited is primarily involved in the manufacturing of cables. The workers had reportedly been raising concerns regarding their salary structure for some time. On Monday morning, the dissatisfaction culminated in a mass sit-in protest. As the crowd grew, the workers marched onto the streets to register their protest more aggressively. The Bhiwadi police were immediately dispatched to the scene to manage the situation. When the workers refused to clear the road, the police had to resort to using mild force to disperse the crowd and restore the movement of vehicles.
Police Intervention and Detentions
The intervention by the police led to a brief confrontation with the workers. To maintain law and order and prevent the situation from spiraling out of control, several protesters were taken into preventive custody. Police officials stated that while workers have the right to protest, blocking public thoroughfares isn't permissible. The authorities emphasized that their primary objective was to ensure the safety of the public and the security of the industrial area. Those detained are expected to be released once the situation stabilizes completely.
Ongoing Negotiations with Management
Additional SP of Bhiwadi, Atul Sahu, informed that a dialogue has been established between the workers and the company management. A delegation representing the workers is currently engaged in discussions with the senior officials of Suprajit Engineering. According to the police, the management has shown a willingness to discuss the wage demands. The authorities are facilitating the talks to ensure a peaceful resolution. Officials remain optimistic that a consensus will be reached soon, ending the deadlock that has halted production at the facility.
Security Measures in Chopanki Industrial Area
Following the incident, security has been tightened across the Chopanki Industrial Area. Heavy police deployment remains in place outside the factory premises to prevent any further flare-ups. Local administration is closely monitoring the situation to ensure that the unrest doesn't spread to neighboring industrial units. Workers have been urged to maintain peace and resolve their grievances through formal negotiation channels, while as of now, the industrial area remains under close surveillance, while the outcome of the ongoing talks is awaited by the labor community.
