Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lok Sabha MP Jagannath Sarkar on Saturday alleged that a bomb was hurled at his car while returning after watching the film "The Kashmir Files" in West Bengal's Nadia district. The government said that he survived the attack when the bomb fell behind the speeding car.

Law and order situation in Bengal bad: Government

The government said the law and order situation in West Bengal has deteriorated under the Mamata Banerjee-led government and demanded President's rule in the state. Talking to news agency ANI, Sarkar said that no one is safe in Bengal as the law and order situation has deteriorated in the state. The state government has brought down democracy. The BJP MP said that Article 356 (President's rule) should be imposed to stop the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. Otherwise, it won't stop.

Critics raised questions on 'The Kashmir Files'

The film 'The Kashmir Files', based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley, has courted controversy over its portrayal of Muslims and Leftists. Critics have said that Kashmiri Muslims were also victims of militancy, but director Vivek Agnihotri did not include it in the film in an attempt to incite hatred against Muslims.

On the other hand, senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh tweeted and wrote that some films inspire change. Kashmir files incite hatred. Truth can lead to justice, rehabilitation, reconciliation and peace. Propaganda distorts facts, distorts history to incite anger and encourage violence. Politicians heal wounds. Preachers take advantage of fear and prejudice to divide and rule.
