Auto / BMW S 1000 RR launched, price starts at Rs 18.50 lakh

BMW Motorrad has launched the new S 1000 RR in India for a starting price of Rs 18.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The bookings for the superbike, which is here as a completely built-up unit (CBU), have started at company dealerships. BMW S 1000 RR is not only lighter in weight but also features an entirely new chassis, suspension, lights, dashboard and design. Even the engine is new with BMW ShiftCam technology.

BMW S 1000 RR is available in two colour options -- 'Racing Red' and 'Light White/ Lupin Blue Metallic/ Racing Red' with motorsport finish. It is the first motorcycle to get an M package, with features like carbon fibre wheels, M lightweight battery and M sport seat. Below are the variant-wise ex-showroom prices of the superbike.

Powering the new BMW S 1000 RR is a newly developed 4-cylinder, in-line, 999 cc engine that delivers 207 hp. The motor is four kilos lighter than the earlier model. According to the company, BMW ShiftCam technology provides more power, reduced emission and better fuel efficiency. The frame and suspension of the bike are new as well. It gets ABS Pro, dynamic traction control (DTC) and DTC wheelie function as standard, while dynamic damping control is optional.

BMW S 1000 RR comes in with four standard ride modes -- Rain, Road, Dynamic and Race. For track racing, the Riding Modes Pro option in the superbike offers three additional freely programmable riding modes -- Race Pro 1, Race Pro 2 and Race Pro 3. There is a 6.5-inch multifunctional instrument panel (TFT display). There are LED headlights as standard, with LED turn signals, tail lights and brake lights.
