Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has officially announced a significant recruitment drive for the position of Junior Telecom Officer (JTO). According to the latest notification, a total of 100 vacancies have been sanctioned for this recruitment cycle. This initiative is aimed at strengthening the technical workforce of the state-run telecommunications giant. Candidates who are selected through this process will be appointed to various telecom circles across the country, offering a solid career path in the public sector. The recruitment process is designed to be transparent and merit-based, utilizing a modern examination system to identify the most qualified individuals for these technical roles.
Application Schedule and Important Dates
Prospective candidates must adhere to the specific timeline outlined by BSNL for the application process. The online registration and application submission window is scheduled to open on June 4, 2026. Interested and eligible candidates will have nearly a month to complete their applications, as the closing date for the submission of online forms is July 3, 2026. BSNL has also incorporated a provision for candidates to correct any errors made during the initial application phase. The correction window will be active from July 4, 2026, to July 11, 2026. Following the completion of the registration and correction phases, the organization plans to conduct the Computer Based Test (CBT) in August 2026, although this date remains tentative and subject to final confirmation.
Vacancy Breakdown and Reservation Details
The 100 available positions for Junior Telecom Officer have been distributed among various categories in accordance with government reservation policies. Out of the total 100 posts, 61 positions have been allocated for candidates belonging to the General and Other Backward Classes (OBC) categories. On top of that, specific reservations have been made for other groups: 12 posts are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates, 10 posts are set aside for the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), and 6 posts are dedicated to candidates from the OBC Non-Creamy Layer. Also, candidates with disabilities (Divyang) will also receive the benefits of reservation as per the prevailing government regulations and norms.
Educational Qualifications and Age Criteria
To be eligible for the JTO position, candidates must meet specific academic and age requirements. Applicants are required to possess a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) or a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree from a recognized institution. The eligible disciplines for these degrees include Telecommunication, Electronics, Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), Electrical, and Instrumentation. In addition to undergraduate engineering degree holders, candidates who have completed an MSc or MTech in the relevant subjects are also considered eligible to apply for these vacancies. Regarding the age limit, candidates must be between 20 and 30 years of age to qualify for the recruitment process.
Selection Process, Salary, and Application Fees
The selection of candidates for the 100 JTO posts will be determined by their performance in a National Level Computer Based Test (CBT). The marks obtained in this examination will be the primary criteria for the final merit list. Those who are successfully selected will be entitled to an attractive salary package. The basic pay scale for the Junior Telecom Officer position ranges from 16400 to 40500. In addition to the basic salary, selected employees will also receive various other government allowances as per the rules. The application fee for the recruitment has been set at 2000 for candidates in the General, OBC, and EWS categories. For candidates belonging to the SC, ST, and PwD (Divyang) categories, the application fee is 1000.
