Madhya Pradesh / Bus fell in Narmada from bridge, 13 dead, people left for Pune from Indore

Madhya Pradesh | A bus carrying passengers has fallen into a river in Madhya Pradesh's Dhar district. 13 passengers have lost their lives in the accident. The bus coming from Maharashtra to Indore fell into the river from the bridge at Khalghat in the district. Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Dr Narottam Mishra has said that there were around 13-14 people in the bus and none of them survived.

Earlier, Narottam Mishra had told that about 12 people have died in the bus accident and 15 people have been rescued. He had also said that 50-55 people are reported to be in the bus. Clarifying this situation, he said that people were running away from the river immediately after the accident, mistakenly they were assumed to be saved. According to the latest information, there were 13 to 14 people in the bus. None of them survived. He said that so far some people from Rajasthan and Maharashtra have been identified among the dead. The process of identification of the remaining is on.

The accident happened on the Agra-Mumbai (AB Road) highway. This road connects Indore to Maharashtra. The place of occurrence is 80 kms from Indore. The Sanjay Setu bridge from which the bus fell is built on the border of two districts Dhar and Khargone. Half of it is in Khalghat (Dhar) and half in Khaltaka (Khargone). Collector and SP from Khargone also reached the spot.

A bus full of passengers fell in the Narmada river near Khalghat in Dhamnod at ten in the morning. The bus was going from Indore to Pune. 13 bodies have been recovered, including some women. In Khalghat of Dhamnod, the bus fell into the Narmada while breaking the railing of the two-lane bridge. This bridge is said to be old. The bus belongs to Maharashtra State Transport.

CM Shivraj expressed grief over the incident

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, "The sad news was received about the accident that took place in the Narmada river at Khalghat in Dhar district. I pray to God to give the departed souls a place at his feet and give strength to the family members to bear this deep loss and the injured get well soon. The district administration team is present at the accident site. The bus has been removed. I am in constant touch with Khargone, Dhar district administration. Instructions have been given to make arrangements for proper treatment of the injured. In this hour of grief, the victim's family should not consider themselves alone, I and the entire state are with us.
