IMD Weather Rainfall: The continuous torrential rains in Rajasthan for the last few days have created a flood-like situation in many districts. Kota, Bundi, Sawai Madhopur and Tonk are among the most affected areas. The Chambal river is in spate due to heavy rains, due to which river water has entered residential areas in Bundi. Roads and state highways have been damaged, while a large part of the land has sunk in Sawai Madhopur. To deal with this disaster, Mi-17 helicopters of the Army and Air Force have been deployed in relief and rescue operations.

Schools closed and life affected

Schools have been declared closed for 1 to 3 days in view of heavy rains in 13 districts of Rajasthan including Jaipur, Sikar. The rain has completely disrupted life. The dam of dirty water made of soil broke in Nani ravine of Sikar, due to which National Highway-52 was flooded. This highway connects Jaipur to Bikaner, and its blockage has had a huge impact on traffic.

Increasing pressure on dams

The water level of Tokra Dam in Revdar area of Sirohi district has reached a worrying level. The maximum filling capacity of the dam is 31 feet, and by Sunday its water level has reached 28.50 feet. The Water Resources Department is keeping a close watch on the condition of the dam so that any emergency can be dealt with.

Tragic incidents related to rain

Continuous rain has also led to many tragic incidents. Four children drowned due to waterlogging in Kunwari Mines in Udaipur. At the same time, two people lost their lives due to the collapse of an old house in Loharpura area of Nagaur. These incidents have further increased the challenges facing the local administration and residents.

Reason for rain: Opinion of meteorologists

Radheshyam Sharma, Director of Meteorological Center Jaipur, said that the cyclonic circulation present on the border of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan for the last 48 hours has now moved towards south-western Uttar Pradesh and eastern Rajasthan. Along with this, the monsoon trough line extends from Ganganagar, Churu, Gwalior, Satna and Daltonganj to the low-pressure system formed in the Bay of Bengal. Due to this weather system, it has been raining continuously in Rajasthan since Friday, and its effect may remain for the next few days.

Relief and rescue work

The administration has intensified relief and rescue work in the affected areas. With the help of Army and Air Force helicopters, people trapped in the floods are being taken to safe places. Special attention is being given to the residential areas affected due to the rise in the Chambal river in Bundi. The local administration has appealed to the people not to go near the river and dams.
