America : At least six people were killed and 24 were injured in a shooting during the Independence Day parade near Highland Park in the US city of Chicago on Monday. Police gave this information. Police has taken a person into custody in the case. It is being told that the attacker fired from the roof of a building.

Police investigating the case have detained 22-year-old Robert E Cremo III. Initially, it was being told that the attacker was a white man, who was wearing a white and blue T-shirt.

Christopher Cowelly, spokesman for the Lake County Major Crime Task Force, said at a news conference that the attacker fired a rifle at the parade participants from a rooftop and that the rifle was recovered. However, it is not known from which building's roof he fired. Koveli said police believe only one shooter perpetrated the attack.

Witnesses said they saw blood-soaked bodies covered with blankets and hundreds of people running for their lives. The Sun-Times reported that the parade began around 10 a.m., but was called off after 10 minutes of firing.

A Sun Times correspondent said he had seen some blood-soaked bodies covered in blankets. Several eyewitnesses told the newspaper that they had heard gunshots.
