New Delhi: Local Pakistani fishermen are facing a livelihood crisis after large Chinese fishing vessels were allowed to fish in Gwadar. There is resentment among the people due to the loss of employment of Pakistani fishing due to China. Massive protests are being witnessed from the people in Gwadar region and other places.protest against the decision of the governmentA large number of fishermen in Pakistan's Gwadar have expressed their anger against the federal government several times in the recent past. They protested against giving fishing rights by issuing licenses to Chinese fishing vessels in the region. Apart from fishermen, political activists and members of civil society also participated in the protest. Following this, the National Party and the Baloch Students' Union called for a protest rally and dharna in front of the Gwadar Press Club against the government's move.Pakistan buried under the burden of Chinese loanThe fate of this backward region, however, once looked promising - as China promised Pakistan a new era of development through its flagship project, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). However, as time progresses, it is clear that loans from China have compounded Islamabad's woes and Pakistan is soon on the verge of becoming a vassal nation to Beijing. A senior intelligence agency official said the elite governing institutions - both the Pakistani military and the government - are so indebted to their Chinese masters that they are unwilling to protect the rights of their population. The land being snatched from the people of GwadarThe local population of Gwadar has been one of the worst victims. There is heavy looting - both on land and at sea - by Chinese masters and their Pakistani puppets. Gwadar – as the center stage of the CPEC and at one point known as the next Dubai, was about to usher in the economic upliftment of the whole of Balochistan. However, large tracts of land were acquired by the federal government of Pakistan from the local population regardless of their good or bad. A large part of these lands have been illegally transferred for private purposes. Including the Defense Housing Authority - the biggest land grabber.
