India / Construction starts for the foundation of Ayodhya Ram Temple

Ayodhya: The construction for the foundation of the grand Ram Temple in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya began on Monday with the trustees of Ram Janamabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust performing 'Vedic Pujan'.

General Secretary of the Trust, Champat Rai, trustees Dr Anil Mishra, Raja Vimlendra Mohan Pratap Mishra, Mahant Dinendra Das and District Magistrate Anuj Jha were also present during the 'Bhoomi Pujan' at the construction site.

Though the official date to begin construction of foundation at 2.77 acres of land for the Ram temple, including the sanctum sanctorum, has been fixed for April 9, one feet concrete was laid in the 40-feet foundation to mark the beginning of the foundation filling work at the site.

"Today, in the auspicious time of the morning, at the site of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi, with Vedic worship, the work of filling the foundation for the construction of Shri Ram Temple has started," the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra said in a tweet.

According to the Trust's General Secretary, the construction of the foundation work will be completed by August and then the actual construction of the temple will begin. “We are very much within our schedule. If all goes well, Lord Ram temple will be ready by 2023,” he said.

The three-storey Ram mandir will effectively be the flagship project of what is a complete face-lift for the city of Ayodhya.

The Yogi Adityanath government has appointed Delhi-based CP Kukreja Architects along with LEA Associate South Asia to work in collaboration with infrastructure major Larsen and Toubro to undertake a massive development spree across the 875 sq km city.
