Republic Day 2024: The country is celebrating its 75th Republic Day today. As always, all eyes are on the annual Republic Day parade. India's military might and cultural diversity will be displayed on the duty route in the national capital Delhi. The chief guest of this year's parade is French President Emmanuel Macron. At the same time, on the occasion of Republic Day, a total of 1,132 personnel of Police, Fire Service, Home Guard and Civil Defense and Correctional Service have been awarded gallantry and service medals. Helicopters will shower flowers on the spectators

After hoisting the national flag, along with the national anthem, a 21-gun salute will be given from the indigenous gun system '105-mm Indian Field Gun'. According to the ministry, 4 MI-17 helicopters of '105 Helicopter Unit' will shower flowers on the spectators present on the duty path. After this the parade will start with President Murmu taking the salute. The parade will be commanded by Lieutenant General Bhavneesh Kumar, General Officer Commanding, Delhi Area.

Republic Day parade will start at 10.30 am

The Republic Day parade will start at 10.30 am and will last for about 90 minutes. The celebrations will begin with Prime Minister Narendra Modi visiting the 'National War Memorial', where he will pay floral tributes to the martyred heroes. The Defense Ministry said that a few minutes later, President Draupadi Murmu and his French counterpart Macron would arrive in 'traditional buggies'.

Tight security arrangements from ground to sky

Strict security arrangements have been made from ground to sky in Delhi regarding Republic Day. All the borders of Delhi have been sealed till the end of the parade. Armed personnel of Delhi Police and Paramilitary have been deployed for security on the ground. Many routes have been blocked.
