DC vs PBKS: Lungi Ngidi Hospitalized After Severe Head Injury During Catch Attempt

Delhi Capitals pacer Lungi Ngidi was rushed to the hospital via ambulance after sustaining a severe head injury while attempting a catch during the IPL match against Punjab Kings at Arun Jaitley Stadium.

A distressing incident occurred during the 19th season of the IPL in a match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Delhi Capitals' fast bowler Lungi Ngidi sustained a serious head injury while attempting to take a catch, leaving him in visible distress on the field.

The Incident During Priyansh Arya's Catch Attempt

The injury took place while Punjab Kings were chasing a target of 265 runs. Having scored 36 runs in the first two overs, the third over was handed to Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel. On the third ball of the over, Punjab Kings batter Priyansh Arya attempted a big shot, sending the ball high into the air towards mid-off. Lungi Ngidi, who was fielding in that position, moved backward to secure the catch but lost his balance and fell heavily on his head.

Emergency Medical Response and Hospitalization

Following the fall, Ngidi was seen in significant pain and was unable to stand up. Initially, an attempt was made to carry him off the field on a stretcher. However, given the severity of his condition, an ambulance was brought directly onto the field. The pacer was subsequently rushed to the hospital for immediate medical attention.
