There is a big screw in Punjab regarding the CM face of Congress. There is no consensus on the name of either Charanjit Channi and Navjot Sidhu. Rahul Gandhi was supposed to announce it at 2 am. He had reached Ludhiana around 12 o'clock. After this, for about one and a half hours, he is celebrating both of them at the hotel in Ludhiana. Due to which the rally has also been delayed by about one and a half hours. At the same time, it is also being discussed that if Congress does not make a CM face, then Navjot Sidhu can resign from the post of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. Congress did not even make him a star campaigner in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.

Sidhu showed his attitude before Rahul's arrival

Navjot Sidhu showed his attitude before the arrival of Rahul Gandhi. Sidhu has indicated to the Congress high command that without a decision, nothing big can be achieved. CM face in Punjab will decide in whose name Congress will get 60 seats. It is clear from this that Sidhu is not ready to agree on someone else's name.

4 alternatives of Congress for CM face in Punjab

The first incumbent CM Charanjit Channi can be made the next CM face, so that the Congress can dominate the 32% Dalit vote bank in Punjab.

Another option is Punjab Congress Chief Navjot Sidhu. Navjot Sidhu belongs to JattSikh community and has 19% votes in Punjab. At the same time, Sidhu has the image of a strong leader of Congress in Punjab.

As a third option, after the formation of the government, Channi and Sidhu can be given the chair of CM for two-and-a-half years on rotation. The MLA who will come first will decide who will become the first. However, Charanjit Channi is opposed to this formula.

The fourth option is to give no face. Rahul has also called Sunil Jakhar along with Channi and Sidhu on the stage. Through these, joint leadership can be declared.

Sidhu and Channi are making the claim

Navjot Sidhu and Charanjit Channi are staking claim for the CM face in Punjab Congress. Sidhu says that if Punjab comes out of this dilemma, then Congress is sure to get 60 to 70 seats. Describing the chair of CM as Aladdin's lamp, Charanjit Channi is asking for full 5 years after 111 days. No such claim is being made by Sunil Jakhar. He is in favor of Channi.

MP not in favor of CM face

Partap Singh Bajwa, the MP contesting from Qadian and Manish Tewari, MP from Sri Anandpur Sahib, are not in favor of the CM face. He says that Congress will not benefit from the announcement of CM face. In the present situation itself, Congress should contest the elections.

The battle for the CM chair happened every time in Congress, but for the first time in such a situation

During the assembly elections in Punjab Congress, there was a war of CM chair every time. However, such a tussle is being seen between Navjot Sidhu and Charanjit Channi for the first time. Due to which the image of Congress is tarnished.

2002: Captain Amarinder Singh was the biggest contender for the CM's chair as he was also the President of Punjab Congress. Apart from him, former CM Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, Pratap Singh Bajwa, Shamsher Dulo were claiming this chair. In the end, the captain became the CM.

2007: Pratap Bajwa and Rajinder Kaur Bhattal were in the race with Captain Amarinder Singh. Congress lost in this election. SAD-BJP coalition government was formed in Punjab.

2012: Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, Pratap Bajwa along with Captain Amarinder Singh were in the race to become the CM. Then Manpreet Badal left the Akali Dal and formed the People's Party of Punjab (PPP). This spoiled the equation that the Congress fell behind and the SAD-BJP came back to power.

2017: The election was fought under the leadership of Captain Amarinder Singh. Election strategist Prashant Kishor took charge of the campaign. The entire campaign revolved around the Capt. Congress was successful in forming the government.
