GST Council Meeting / Due to reduction in GST, AC, TV, dishwashing machine all became cheaper, how much will be the saving?

In the 56th meeting of the GST Council, the government has given a big relief during the festive season. The 12% and 28% slabs have been abolished. GST on electronics like AC, TV, washing machine has been reduced from 28% to 18%. The new rates will be applicable from 22 September 2025. Buyers will get direct benefit.

GST Council Meeting: In the 56th meeting of the GST Council, the government announced major relief for consumers ahead of the festive season. Under GST 2.0, new rates have been introduced by completely removing the 12% and 28% tax slabs. Many essential items that earlier attracted 28% GST have now been shifted to the 18% slab, while goods in the 12% slab have been moved to 5%. Additionally, GST has been completely eliminated on several essential items. These new rates will take effect from September 22, 2025, the first day of Navratri.

GST Reduction on Electronics
GST rates on electronic products have also been reduced. In particular, air conditioners (ACs), televisions (TVs), washing machines, dishwashing machines, monitors, and projectors have seen GST lowered from 28% to 18%. This change will lead to significant savings for consumers during festive shopping. Let’s see how much you can save.

Savings on ACs
Households generally use 1-ton, 1.5-ton, or 2-ton ACs. With the reduced GST rates, the savings are as follows:

Savings on TVs
GST on LCD and LED TVs larger than 32 inches has also been reduced from 28% to 18%. Here’s the savings across different sizes:

Savings on Dishwashing Machines, Monitors, and Projectors
GST on dishwashing machines, monitors, and projectors has also been reduced from 28% to 18%. For example, purchasing a dishwashing machine worth ₹10,000 earlier required paying ₹2,800 in GST. Now, with the reduced rate, you will pay only ₹1,800, saving ₹1,000.
