A heart-wrenching incident has been reported from the Dungarpur district of Rajasthan, where a peaceful Sunday morning turned into a nightmare for a local family. In the Likhi Badi village, located under the Dhambola police station area, four individuals lost their lives due to drowning while they were bathing in a river. The group consisted of six people in total, including three siblings and guests who had traveled from Gujarat to spend time with their relatives. The incident has cast a deep shadow of grief over the entire village as the community grapples with the sudden loss of four young lives. The victims were enjoying their time at a local anycut when they were suddenly caught in deep water, leading to the fatal accident.

The victims of this tragic accident have been identified as 15 year old Ishita, 20 year old Pratik, and 24 year old Heena Damor, all of whom were residents of Likhi Badi village. The fourth victim was 20 year old Ronak Parmar, a guest who had come from Palanpur in Gujarat. The tragedy struck a single family particularly hard, as three of the victims were siblings. Amidst the chaos, the quick intervention of local villagers proved life-saving for two other children. The survivors, identified as 15 year old Rajveer from Palanpur, Gujarat, and 11 year old Jaysingh from Mehsana, Gujarat, were pulled out of the water just in time. Both Rajveer and Jaysingh are reported to be out of danger and are currently safe after the harrowing ordeal.

The Tragic Sequence of Events at the Anycut

The group had reached the river anycut early on Sunday morning with the intention of bathing and spending some leisure time together, while according to eyewitness accounts and information gathered from the village, the group was unaware of the varying depths of the water in the anycut. As they ventured further into the river, they were caught in a deep section and began to struggle. Their cries for help immediately alerted the villagers nearby, who rushed to the scene to initiate a rescue. While the villagers showed immense courage and managed to save the two younger boys, the other four members of the group were submerged before they could be reached, while the bodies were later recovered with the combined efforts of the Dhambola police and local residents.

Administrative Response and Police Investigation

Following the incident, the Dhambola police station was notified, and a team arrived at the spot promptly to manage the situation. The police coordinated the recovery of the bodies and ensured they were transported to the mortuary at the Simalwara Community Health Center (CHC), while the local authorities have initiated the necessary legal procedures, and post-mortem examinations are being conducted to confirm the cause of death. Currently, a significant police force is stationed in Likhi Badi village to maintain peace and support the bereaved family during this difficult time. The incident has left the local administration and the public in shock, serving as a grim reminder of the potential dangers associated with water bodies.
