New Delhi : The Congress has surrounded the government for lifting the ban on the Italian company related to the VVIP helicopter scam. The party has also accused the Prime Minister of adopting double standards on corruption. The party questioned whether any deal was struck during the PM's visit to Italy. Former party president Rahul Gandhi took a jibe at the government on this issue and said that earlier Agusta was corrupt, now it has been washed away in the BJP laundry. At the same time, while talking to the media at the Congress headquarters, party spokesperson Gaurav Vallabh said that why the government is kind to the corrupt company.

Vallabh said that the Prime Minister has called the Italian company AgustaWestland a corrupt company. Despite this, the government first allowed this company to participate in the Make in India program and now all the restrictions imposed on the company have been lifted.

He said that the PM had just gone to Italy. Vallabh claimed that in a meeting there was a discussion regarding the AgustaWestland company. NSA Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister Jaishankar also attended this meeting. All restrictions were lifted after the PM returned from Italy.

Congress spokesperson said that the Prime Minister should tell the country whether now this company is corrupt or not? PM should tell the country whether he has any secret deal in this matter or not. Along with this, the party has also demanded the PM to apologize for lying to the countrymen.

Gaurav Vallabh said that the Congress government had given Rs 1620 crore to this company and withdrew Rs 2954 crore. In such a situation, the question is whether it will go to international arbitration after giving a clean chit to the government company. Will the government withdraw the case?

Party spokesperson Randeep Surjewala has also targeted the government on this issue. He tweeted and asked what is the secret agreement between the government and Augusta (Finmeccanica)? Is it right now to deal with the company, which the PM and the government have described as a fake company giving bribe?
