Jharkhand News: Enforcement Directorate (ED) has sent summons to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren. The investigating agency will interrogate CM Soren in the illegal mining case. Hemant Soren is accused of a mining scam of about Rs 1000 crore. The ED has already arrested Soren's close aide Pankaj Mishra in this case. ED has questioned CM Soren in this matter on November 18, 2022. The investigating agency had interrogated him for 10 hours.

The ED had arrested Pankaj Mishra, a close aide of Soren and his MLA representative from Barhait assembly constituency, in July 2022. Filed a prosecution complaint (equivalent to a charge sheet) against him and two others in the matter. In September 2022, the agency informed a special court in Ranchi that it had detected illegal mining of stones worth over Rs 1,000 crore in Jharkhand's Sahibganj district and surrounding areas, all controlled by Pankaj Mishra.

In its complaint, the ED said that Pankaj Mishra also controlled the setting up of crushers and had a definite share in almost all quarries and transportation of material. The investigating agency has made three people accused. Pankaj Mishra, his associates Bachchu Yadav and Prem Prakash are accused of allegedly receiving profits through illegal mining.
