Shankar Aadhya / ED's big action on ration scam in Bengal, TMC leader arrested

Shankar Aadhya: A major action by the Enforcement Directorate i.e. ED has come to light in North 24 Parganas of West Bengal. The ED team has arrested former Bongaon Municipality Chairman and Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Shankar Aadhya in the ration scam case. Actually, this action has come to light after the attack on the ED team yesterday. The central agency appears to be in action mode.

According to the information, the ED team took action at midnight. Last evening, ED had recovered Rs 8.5 lakh from the hideout of Shankar Aadhya's in-laws. A cupboard full of cash was found. Later, by nightfall, former chairman of Bangaon Municipality, Shankar Aadhya was arrested. According to sources, he will be brought to CGO Complex in Kolkata. He can be produced in the court after medical examination on Saturday morning.

Shankar is close to Jyotipriya arrested in ration corruption

Last Friday, ED investigating officers had raided many places including Kolkata. Different teams of ED were conducting raids simultaneously since morning. Bongaon was one of them. ED conducted search operation at five places linked to Trinamool leader Shankar Aadhya in Dapute, Bangaon. The central agency also raided the leader's house and his in-laws' house. After a lot of investigation, the investigating officers found cash from Shankar Aadhya's in-laws house.

A separate team of ED was interrogating Shankar Aadhya at his house. The family members claimed that he was interrogated on various business matters. It is known that Trinamool leader Aadhya and her family have many businesses. According to sources, the TMC leader also did foreign currency exchange business. At the same time, Shankar Aadhya has very close relations with Jyotipriya Mallik, who was arrested in the ration corruption case.

ED team was attacked, officers ran away to save their lives

At the same time, the ED team was attacked on Friday morning in Sarberia area of Sandeshkhali, where local people and supporters of TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan beat him up in the presence of CRPF jawans. ED officials, who were raiding 18 places including Sarbariya in connection with the ration scam, had to run away to save their lives. ED officials had knocked on the door of Sheikh Shahjahan, who was not present at his Sandeshkhali home. The vehicles of the investigation team were vandalized and an officer suffered head injuries. The officers and soldiers had dispersed and saved their lives by escaping from the spot with the help of bike and auto.
