Kisan Andolan | Farmers are planning to return to Delhi once again with many more demands including guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP). The Delhi Police has started erecting cemented barricades on the Tikri border connecting Delhi-Haryana ahead of a call for farmers' protest at Jantar Mantar on Monday. Along with this, the security system was strengthened. Farmers have started reaching Delhi for the demonstration.

Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait coming to Delhi was also stopped by Delhi Police at Ghazipur border on Sunday. Rakesh Tikait wanted to go to Delhi with some of his supporters, but Delhi Police refused. After this, Tikait supporters started protesting sitting on the road, after which Delhi Police has taken everyone to Madhu Vihar Police ACP office.

Tikait had on Friday called upon farmers across the country to be ready for a massive nationwide agitation to resolve their issues. He had said that when, where and how the nationwide agitation would take place, SKM leaders would give information about it at an appropriate time.

The next strategy will be decided in the meeting of Delhi on September 6

United Kisan Morcha (SKM) leader Rakesh Tikait had said on Saturday that Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra has raised several demands in Lakhimpur, Uttar Pradesh, including the removal of 'teni' and enactment of a law to guarantee the Minimum Support Price (MSP). The farmers' protest in Kheri ended today after talks with the top district officials. Addressing the farmers, Tikait said that the future strategy of SKM will be prepared during a meeting in Delhi on 6th September.

The SKM started its dharna at Rajapur Mandi Committee in Lakhimpur city on Thursday morning. The SKM had staged a sit-in on various demands, including the sacking of Minister of State for Home Ajay Kumar Mishra, the release of innocent farmers in jails, the MSP guarantee law, the withdrawal of the Electricity Amendment Bill 2022, payment of sugarcane arrears and land rights of the government. . Lakhimpur Kheri is the native district of the Union Minister of State for Home and he is a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Kheri for the second time in a row.

It is worth mentioning that on October 3 last year, eight people, including four farmers, were killed in violence in Tikoniya village when farmers protested the visit of Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya to Ajay Mishra's village in Lakhimpur Kheri district. The minister's son Ashish Mishra has been arrested as the main accused in this case. The farmers are demanding that Ajay Mishra should be sacked from the post of minister in this matter.

The SKM leaders have demanded full implementation of the agreement signed on October 4, 2021 between Bharatiya Kisan Union (Tikait) leader Rakesh Tikait and officials of the Uttar Pradesh government.
