Delhi Mayor Election: The election of Mayor, Deputy Mayor and 6 members of the Standing Committee of Delhi is being held on Friday. There has been a lot of ruckus before the mayoral election in Delhi, due to which voting for the post of mayor has not started yet. AAP and BJP corporators clashed at the Civic Center ahead of the swearing in of the nominated members. Angry Aam Aadmi Party councilors have created ruckus after nominated member Manoj Kumar was first administered the oath. During this, there was a scuffle in the midst of fierce sloganeering.

BJP's reaction has come to the fore on this incident. MP Meenakshi Lekhi said in her statement, “They (AAP) are chaotic people and their job is to spread chaos. When they have the numbers then what are they afraid of. This bullying can be seen by their MPs in the Rajya Sabha as well and the same thing is happening here.

Aam Aadmi Party has fielded 4 candidates and BJP has fielded 3 candidates for this. 36 votes are needed to elect 1 member of the Standing Committee after not participating in the Congress election.

Sisodia gave such a reaction

Reacting to this incident, Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia tweeted, 'How low will BJP people fall to hide their misdeeds in MCD! Elections were postponed, illegal appointment of the presiding officer, illegal appointment of nominated councilors, and now people's elected councilors are not being administered oath. If you cannot respect the verdict of the public, then why the elections?

Ruckus on the issue of oath

Let us inform that AAP's Leader of the House Mukesh Goyal had raised the issue of taking oath before the nominated councillors. Mukesh Goyal said that for 25 years, the oath of nominated councilors had never taken place in this House before. However, during this, BJP's mayoral candidate Rekha Gupta and AAP candidate Shelly Oberoi kept watching the ruckus as mute spectators.

Significantly, the Delhi LG has sent the name of Congress councilor and Leader of the House Nazia Danish for the chairmanship of the Delhi State Haj Committee. According to AAP MLA Atishi, this is being done to benefit the BJP in the standing committee elections. Nazia Danish has been given the responsibility of getting all the councilors of Congress to walk out in the standing committee elections.

Let us tell you that the Standing Committee of Delhi MCD consists of 18 members, in which the election of 6 members of the Standing Committee is being held on Friday. 12 members are elected from different 12 zones of Delhi. Understand this math in such a way that the political party whose councilors will have more majority in the zone, the member of the Standing Committee of that party will be elected in that zone.

Standing committee plays an important role in MCD

Aam Aadmi Party and BJP are very serious about the election of 6 members of Standing Committee in MCD. The Standing Committee plays an important role in the MCD. In a way it is said that the Standing Committee is the Finance Ministry of the House. In such a situation, both the parties want to win the Standing Committee elections at any cost. The election of 6 members of the Standing Committee is to be held today. The Aam Aadmi Party has fielded 4 members in the Standing Committee elections. The BJP has fielded three members in the Standing Committee elections.

Historic victory of AAP in Delhi MCD

Significantly, in the elections held on 250 wards of MCD, the Aam Aadmi Party had won 134 wards. Along with this, BJP had won only 104 wards in this election. Voting Councilors who can vote are 250 elected councilors. Apart from this, 7 Lok Sabha MPs, 3 Rajya Sabha MPs, 14 MLAs among the nominated people who have been made with the consent of the Delhi Assembly Speaker are among those who cast their votes. Altogether there are 274 voters in the mayoral and deputy mayor elections.
