Uttarakhand News: The last attempt to save Joshimath of Uttarakhand is going to start from today. After the survey report of the state government, the first action of the administration will be taken in Joshimath today. In Joshimath, the campaign to demolish buildings which have become unsafe due to land subsidence is being started from today. Today two hotels of Joshimath 'Hotel Malari' and 'Mount View' will be removed. From 10 am today, the work of removing both the hotels will be started under the supervision of the Central Building Research Institute (CBRI) team. The decision to remove the hotels was taken in the meeting of the Chief Secretary yesterday.

Firstly 'Hotel Malari Inn' will be demolished. Action will be taken to break the hotel under the direction of the team of experts from Central Building Research Institute Roorkee and in the presence of NDRF, SDRF. During this, 60 laborers as well as 2 JCBs, 1 big crane and 2 tipper trucks will be present. At the same time, red marks have been put on unsafe buildings to be demolished.

Number of houses affected by land subsidence 678

Cracks were observed in 68 more houses in Joshimath on Monday, after which the number of houses affected by the landslide has increased to 678. At the same time, 27 more families have been shifted to a safer place. It said that so far 82 families have been shifted to safer places in the town. State Chief Secretary S S Sandhu held a meeting with officials of the state secretariat to review the situation in Joshimath and asked them to expedite the work of evacuating people from their homes so that they are safe. "Every minute counts," he said.

Red mark on more than 200 unsafe houses

The district administration has put a red mark on more than 200 unsafe houses. It has asked the residents of these houses to either move to temporary relief centers or shift to rented accommodation. For this each family will get Rs 4000 monthly assistance from the state government for the next six months. National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response Force personnel have been deployed for relief and rescue efforts.

Temporary relief centers have been set up for the affected people at 16 places in Joshimath. Besides these, 19 hotels, guest houses and school buildings in Joshimath and 20 such buildings in Pipalkoti on the outskirts of the city have been identified for the affected people.
