Supreme Court / First Live Streaming in Supreme Court- Know Complete Guidelines; Share and recording is banned

Supreme Court: The Supreme Court is live-streaming the proceedings of its Constitution Bench from today. Now people will be able to watch the Supreme Court proceedings live while sitting at home. Guidelines have also been issued by the Supreme Court regarding live streaming.

Court hearings can be viewed through webcast.gov.in/scindia/. The Supreme Court can later host the live-stream being done through YouTube on its own servers. People can watch the live stream on their mobile phones, laptops and computers without any hassle.

What are the live streaming guidelines of the Supreme Court?

No person/entity (including print and electronic media and social media platforms) shall record, share and/or transmit live streamed proceedings or archival data other than the authorized person/entity.

This provision will also be applicable to all messaging applications. Any person/entity acting contrary to this provision will be prosecuted in accordance with the law. The court shall have exclusive copyright in the recording and archival data.

Any unauthorized use of the live stream will be punishable as an offense under the Indian Copyright Act, 1957, the Information Technology Act, 2000 and other provisions of law including contempt law.

Any party/plaintiff accessing the Live Stream shall be bound by these Terms.

The Live Stream will not be reproduced, transmitted, uploaded, posted, modified, published or republished in any form, without the prior written authorization of the Court.

The use of recordings authorized by the Court in its original form may be permitted for broadcasting news and for training, educational and educational purposes. Authorized recordings submitted for the stated purposes will not be further edited or processed. Such recording will not be used in any form for commercial, promotional purposes or advertising.

No person shall use a recording device to record or transcribe proceedings other than as authorized by the Court.

Live streamed the hearing in Shiv Sena's case

For the first time today, the Supreme Court telecast live the hearing of the Constitution Bench. The apex court today has three constitution benches to hear important matters of constitutional law. The second constitution bench headed by Justice DY Chandrachud, led by Uddhav Thackeray and Eknath Shinde, is hearing a matter related to the Maharashtra political crisis on several petitions filed by both the Shiv Sena factions.
