According to the new restrictions imposed from June 5 to 9, the commercial establishments which are now allowed to operate will be allowed to function from 9 am to 7 pm from Friday. However, they will remain closed from Saturday to Wednesday.

Apart from this, only shops selling essential commodities, goods for industrial establishments and construction materials will be allowed to open during that particular time period. The Kerala government is concerned about the test positivity rate in the state for the past two weeks.

18,853 new cases of corona registered, 153 deaths

On Thursday, 18,853 new cases of corona virus infection were reported in Kerala, taking the total number of people affected by this deadly virus in the state to 25.54 lakh. The death toll in the state rose to 9,375 with 153 more deaths due to the disease.

Health Minister Veena George said that 1.23 lakh samples were tested in the last 24 hours and the infection rate is 15.22 percent. Till now 2.01 crore samples have been tested. Malappuram reported the highest number of cases at 2,448, followed by Kollam with 2,272 and Palakkad with 2,201. "The infected also include 79 health workers," the minister said in a release. At present, 1.84 lakh people are under treatment in the state. With six areas removed from the list of hot spots in the state, its total number has gone up to 871. is.
