Ashok Gehlot News / Gehlot said– BJP government is erasing the history of tribals

Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot criticized the state government for removing tribal history from school textbooks. He described the removal of lessons related to Mangarh Dham and the warrior Kalibai as an attack on tribal identity. Gehlot demanded an apology from the BJP government and accused it of saffronizing education.

Ashok Gehlot News: Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has launched a scathing attack on the state BJP government over the removal of tribal history from school textbooks. Gehlot questioned the government's motives for removing the history of Mangarh Dham and the chapter on Veer Kalibai from the syllabus and demanded an apology.

Gehlot's Social Media Attack

Gehlot expressed his displeasure on the social media platform X, writing, "Ever since the BJP government came to power, there has been an effort to downplay the contributions of tribals everywhere. Removing the history of Mangarh Dham from the fourth-grade textbook reflects the BJP's petty mentality." He further stated that the chapter on Veer Kalibai, who awakened the spirit of education, has already been removed. Gehlot sarcastically said, "The BJP is determined to erase the sacrifices and stories of tribals from people's memory, but the contribution of tribal society is not so weak that it can be forgotten by removing it from textbooks."

The Long-Standing Controversy Over School Syllabus Changes

The issue of school syllabus changes in Rajasthan is not new. Every change of government brings controversies surrounding the syllabus. The Congress party has previously accused the BJP government of saffronizing school education. Previously, there have been controversies over the inclusion of Mughal-era history in the syllabus and the removal of chapters on prominent leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru. This time, the changes to chapters related to tribal history have given the opposition a new issue.

The Importance of Mangarh Dham and Kalibai

Mangarh Dham is an important historical and cultural site for the tribal community, symbolizing the struggle and sacrifice of the tribal people. Kalibai is known as a heroine who sacrificed her life for the spread of education. The decision to remove these two from the school syllabus not only diminishes the contributions of the tribal community but also prevents their history and glory from reaching new generations.

Opposition's stance and future strategy

Congress is attacking the BJP government on this issue, portraying it as an insult to the tribal community. The party has made it clear that it will raise this issue from the Assembly to the streets. Gehlot said, "The history and sacrifices of the tribal community are part of our cultural heritage. Attempts to erase them are condemnable."
