Reason for the Ban
According to the government, these apps were distributing obscene and inappropriate content without any censorship or oversight, which was negatively affecting society. The content on these platforms violated not only the provisions of the IT Act 2000 but also data safety, privacy regulations, and broadcasting rules. Particularly concerning was the targeting of underage users and the delivery of content without proper age verification, prompting the government to act.

Why Was This Action Necessary?
In today’s digital age, much of the viral content on social media is inspired by such vulgar web series and videos. This material was easily accessible to children and youth, leading to a visible decline in social and moral values. Broadcasting uncensored content on digital platforms not only harmed the social fabric but also adversely affected mental health. This move is a significant step toward ensuring a clean and safe digital environment.
What Happens Next?
These banned apps will be removed from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The government has made it clear that stricter action will be taken against platforms that do not comply with the law in the future. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has reaffirmed its commitment to prioritizing clean and ethical content in the digital space. Stronger regulations and monitoring mechanisms will be implemented to protect users, especially children and young people, from harmful content.
