Gwalior. In Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, a married woman has faced a case of acid feeding for not bringing dowry harassment. The husband made his wife drink acid for not bringing a dowry of three lakhs in Dabra. The married woman was first admitted to Gwalior and then to Delhi in a critical condition. The whole incident happened on June 28. On July 4, the police had registered a case of dowry act and assault against the husband on the report of the married woman's mother. The condition of the woman remains very critical. The chairperson of Delhi Commission for Women tweeted about the married woman. Gwalior Police has made a statement in front of the magistrate of the married woman admitted in Delhi, in which the married woman has accused her husband, and Jethani of giving acid. After this, in the FIR registered at Dabra police station, along with her husband, Jethani has been accused of attempt to murder.

Shashi Jatav, 22, a resident of Dati Simaria village of Ghatigaon police station in Gwalior district, was married on 17 April 2021 with Virendra Jatav, a resident of Ramgarh, Dabra. The family members had spent about 10 lakh rupees in Shashi's marriage. On May 30, Virendra asked Shashi to bring Rs 3 lakh from his maternal uncle. Shashi refused to bring the money, saying that the financial condition of the family was not good. On the night of June 27, husband Virendra assaulted Shashi over dowry. It is alleged that during the assault, Virendra made Shashi drink acid. Nearby people admitted Shashi to a private hospital in Gwalior in critical condition. Shashi was referred to Delhi the very next day after his condition deteriorated. TI Vinayak Shukla of Dabra police station said that on July 4, Shashi's mother Jaywanti had lodged a report at Dabra City police station. In this, there was mention of torture on husband Virendra for dowry. Jayavanti had told in her statement that her daughter Shashi had consumed poisonous substance after being disturbed by her husband's harassment. Based on these statements, Dabra police had registered a case of dowry act and harassment against husband Virendra.

Delhi State Commission for Women Chairperson Swati Maliwal tweeted about the incident at 3 pm on Tuesday. In her tweet, Swati has written to CM Shivraj Singh that the girl from Gwalior was fed acid by her husband, due to which her organs were burnt. The FIR in MP was lightened and no arrests have been made so far. We are getting the girl treated in Delhi. His statements have also been made in front of the SDM. This terrible photo has been put with the hope that CM Shivraj Chauhan will get the criminals arrested. After this tweet, Gwalior Police swung into action. SP Amit Sanghi said that on the basis of the statement given by the married woman to the police in front of the magistrate in Delhi, strict action has been taken in the matter. Along with the husband of the married woman, Jethani has now been made an accused of attempt to murder. The same married woman accused the sister-in-law of harassment, on whom the sister-in-law has also been made an accused in the case. One female accused has been arrested, while the police is talking about arresting other accused soon.
