Gulam Rasool Balyawi: Janata Dal United (JDU) leader and former MLC Gulam Rasool Balyawi has given a strange statement about the army. He demanded 30 percent jobs for Muslims in the army. Targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Baliyavi said, 'If PM Modi is afraid of dealing with Pakistan, then give 30% jobs to Muslims in the army. When Pakistan was threatening India with missiles, no baba came from Nagpur to answer it. He was the son of a Muslim named APJ Abdul Kalam."

Baliyavi Markji was speaking in the program of Irada-e-Sharia. During his address, he claimed that Baba Ramdev is not an Indian and has links with Pakistan's Lashkar-e-Taiba. He demanded an inquiry into the matter from where Baba Ramdev accumulated such huge wealth. They also demanded an inquiry into Baba Ramdev's businesses, including the production of medicines and other products.

During the event, he also raised questions on Dhirendra Shastri of Bageshwar Dham. He targeted the Hindu leader and claimed that it was unknown where Baba Bageshwar came from. "We don't know that. We only know the Constitution and the judiciary. There is no place for such opposition in our country. Clothes and makeup cannot distract us."

It is worth mentioning here that there is no concept of caste or religion based selection in the Indian Army. Soldiers are selected solely on the basis of merit and there is no provision that prevents Muslims, or anyone, from applying to serve in the Indian Army, if they meet the eligibility criteria.

History of controversial statements of Baliyavi

Ghulam Rasool Baliyavi has a history of giving controversial statements. On January 20, Baliawi threatened to turn Muslim cities into Karbala if any comments were made that insulted the Prophet Muhammad. He had said, "We are in the Karbala field... If you insult our Prophet, we will turn the cities into Karbala." He further said, 'I do not want to name any party. Not a single so-called secular leader has demanded the arrest of this mad woman. It is not clear to whom he was referring, but he was possibly referring to the now-suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma.

In January 2022, he opposed Surya Namaskar and said that 'Allah gave birth to the sun, we cannot worship him'.
