Kota: In Rajasthan's Kota also, the infection of corona continues to increase. The Gehlot government has imposed a lockdown from April 19 to May 3. The Gehlot government has named this lockdown as 'Public Discipline Fortnight'. All other services are closed except those required during lockdown. However, the merchants, whose shops are closed, are now demanding to open it.

A delegation of the Kota Trade Federation met the District Magistrate on Tuesday seeking to treat the traders equitably and they also demanded opening of shops of footwear, slippers, furniture, stationery, surfacing printing, press, electronic goods along with consumer goods.

In this regard, a senior officer of the district administration has clearly stated that the state government has decided to implement Public Discipline Fortnight in the state. The administration can also send a memorandum demanding the traders to the Chief Minister and the Chief Secretary. Anything more than this is not under the control of the district administration and there is no right.

Meanwhile, Congress MLA Bharat Singh from Sangod in Kota district has sent a letter to the state government requesting to allow traders struggling with financial constraints to open shops by 5 pm.

It is noteworthy that since Monday, under the Public Discipline Pakhwada, shops of essential commodities like groceries, fruits, vegetables, milk, dairy etc. were allowed to be opened for a limited time and with precaution like social distancing and not allowing entry without mass. While the remaining shops are closed.
