IND vs AFG: BCCI Announces Schedule Change for India vs Afghanistan Series

The BCCI has modified the schedule for the upcoming India vs Afghanistan series in June. While the Test match and the final two ODIs remain unchanged, the opening ODI has been rescheduled to a new date. The series marks the beginning of India's preparations for the 2027 World Cup.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced a significant update regarding the upcoming home series against Afghanistan. While the cricketing world was eagerly waiting for the clash, a slight modification in the schedule has been introduced, specifically affecting the commencement of the One Day International (ODI) leg of the tour. This series, which comprises a solitary Test match followed by a three-match ODI series, is being viewed as a crucial stepping stone for the Indian team as they begin their long-term preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Schedule Adjustment for the First ODI

According to the latest communication from the BCCI, the date for the first ODI between India and Afghanistan has been rescheduled. Originally, the opening match of the white-ball series was slated to take place on June 14, which falls on a Sunday. However, due to certain reasons, the board has decided to move the match a day earlier. The first ODI will now be played on June 13. Despite the change in date, the venue remains the same; the teams will face off at the picturesque Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala. Fans are advised to take note of this change to ensure they don't miss the action.

Test Match and Remaining ODI Dates

While the first ODI has seen a shift, the rest of the tour schedule remains intact. The series will kick off with a one-off Test match starting on June 6. This red-ball encounter is scheduled to be held in New Chandigarh. If the match lasts the full duration of five days, it will conclude on June 10. Following the Test and the rescheduled first ODI, the action will move to Lucknow for the second ODI. This match is set to be played on June 17 as per the original plan. The series will then conclude in Chennai, where the third and final ODI will take place on June 20. The BCCI has confirmed that there are no changes to the venues or dates for these subsequent fixtures.
