Srilanka : Amidst the ongoing economic crisis in Sri Lanka, India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said that India has always stood for Sri Lanka. We are always very helpful to them."

Speaking to reporters in Kerala, Jaishankar said, "They are working through their problems right now, so we will have to wait and see what they do." Because of the challenges that lie ahead is the refugee crisis. "There is no refugee crisis," he said.

There were massive demonstrations in Sri Lanka on Saturday. The agitators stormed the palace of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe's house was also set ablaze. Three people have been arrested for setting the house on fire. Wickremesinghe has announced that he will step down once the new government comes to power. A statement has been made public on Rajapaksa's resignation, according to which he will formally relinquish his post on 13 July.

According to a report by the news agency AP, the country with a population of 22 million has a debt of more than $ 50 billion. $28 billion needs to be repaid by 2027. Meanwhile, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has said that it is closely monitoring the situation in the country.
