India on Friday sent a consignment of two tonnes of life-saving drugs as part of humanitarian aid to war-ravaged Afghanistan. According to the statement of the Ministry of External Affairs, this consignment of life saving medicines was handed over to the authorities of Indira Gandhi Hospital in Kabul under humanitarian assistance. "As part of the ongoing humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan, India today sent two tonnes of life saving drugs to Afghanistan in the third consignment," the ministry said in a statement.

This generosity of India has made the Taliban happy. Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid welcomed this in a tweet. Mujahid tweeted, "The Islamic Emirate is grateful to India for its humanitarian assistance and cooperation."

The Ministry of External Affairs said that India remains committed to continuing special relations with the people of Afghanistan and providing them humanitarian assistance. In this effort, we recently supplied 5,00,000 doses of anti-COVID-19 vaccine and 1.6 tonnes of medical aid to Afghanistan through the World Health Organization (WHO), the Ministry of External Affairs said. "In the coming weeks, we will be supplying more consignments of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, including medicines and food grains," he said.

Fareed Mamundzai, who was appointed Afghan Ambassador to India by the previous Ashraf Ghani government of Afghanistan, thanked New Delhi for the assistance. He tweeted, "Thank you India for providing essential humanitarian aid to the Afghan people. The third consignment of medical aid containing 2 tonnes of essential life saving drugs reached Indira Gandhi Hospital in Kabul today. Afghanistan is in dire need of such supplies.

In December, India supplied 1.6 metric tonnes of medical aid to Afghanistan. India on Thursday said that it is in touch with the Pakistani administration to finalize the modalities for the supply of 50,000 tonnes of wheat to Afghanistan via Pakistan. India has not recognized the new regime in Afghanistan and is pushing for a truly inclusive government in Kabul. At the same time, India is also emphasizing that the soil of Afghanistan should not be used for terrorist activities against any country. India is concerned by the recent developments in Afghanistan. It hosted a regional dialogue on Afghanistan on November 10 last year, which was attended by the National Security Advisors (NSA) of Russia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
