India's Unemployment Rate Rises to 5.1% in March 2026: NSO Data

According to the latest Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) by the NSO, India's unemployment rate for individuals aged 15 and above rose to 5.1% in March 2026. Urban unemployment also saw an uptick to 6.8%, while labor force participation showed a slight decline.

The latest government data reveals a marginal increase in India's unemployment rate for the month of March 2026.9 percent in February 2026. The primary driver behind this increase is attributed to higher unemployment rates in urban areas.
