Israel-Iran War / Israel launched a major attack, dropped bombs on Iran's Arak heavy water reactor

Israel attacked Iran's Arak heavy water reactor, increasing nuclear tensions. Iran said there was no radiation threat. IAEA appealed for a halt to the attacks. In retaliation, Iran fired missiles at Israel, causing heavy damage to the hospital. Hundreds of people died.

Israel-Iran War: The long-running tension between Israel and Iran has now reached a dangerous turn. On Thursday, Israel attacked the heavy water reactor located in Arak, Iran. Iran's state television channel confirmed the attack and said that the plant was evacuated before the attack and there is no possibility of any radiation threat.

Warning given before attack on reactor

Israel had warned in the morning before the attack that it would attack the Arak reactor and local people were asked to evacuate the area immediately. Despite this, this move has shocked the global community because the nuclear importance of the Arak reactor is very big.

Arak Heavy Water Reactor: What is its role?

The Arak reactor is located about 250 km southwest of Tehran. It is a heavy water reactor used to cool the nuclear reactor. However, another aspect of this is that it also produces plutonium, which can be used in the manufacture of nuclear weapons. This is why this reactor remains the center of international monitoring.

IAEA's concern and appeal

After this attack, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has appealed to Israel to exercise restraint and avoid any kind of military action on Iran's nuclear centers. IAEA inspectors recently inspected the Arak reactor on May 14, which makes it clear that this place was under constant surveillance.

Heavy losses in Iran, 639 dead

According to the human rights group 'Human Rights Activists', at least 639 people have died and 1,329 people are injured in Israel's attacks in Iran so far. The dead include 263 civilians and 154 security force members.

Iran's retaliation, Israeli hospital becomes target

In response to Israel's attack, Iran also carried out missile attacks, in which 'Soroka Medical Center' in South Israel suffered heavy damage. This hospital located in Beer Sheba is the main centre of health care for more than 1 million people of South Israel. The hospital administration has appealed to people not to come there as the building has suffered severe damage.

Casualty situation unclear

According to the fire brigade and the local administration, the main building of the hospital and the surrounding residential buildings have been targeted. At present it is not clear how many people have been injured in this attack.
