According to the Fars News Agency affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the attack took place on June 16 in the western part of Tehran. At that time President Pezeshkian was attending a meeting of the Supreme National Security Council. Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqir Ghalibaf, Judiciary Chief Mohsani Ejei and other senior officials were also present in this meeting. The Israeli army targeted the entry and exit routes of the building with six missiles, so that no one could escape. After the attack, electricity was cut off, which further complicated the situation. Nevertheless, all officials managed to escape safely through an emergency evacuation route.

How did Pezeshkian survive?

President Pezeshkian suffered a minor leg injury during the attack while being evacuated from the building. Iranian officials have now launched an investigation into the leak of the exact details of the attack, as they suspect internal treason. President Pezeshkian told Tucker Carlson in an interview, "Israel had plotted to assassinate me, but their plan failed."

Israel's extensive operation

According to a report by Iran International, Israel carried out several attacks in Tehran's Shahrak-e-Gharb area during the 12-day war. These attacks killed IRGC commander Hussein Salami, Iranian Armed Forces chief Mohammad Bagheri, IRGC Air Force commander Amir Ali Hajizadeh and several nuclear scientists. Israel's operation was part of a strategy to weaken Iran's military and scientific capabilities.

Khamenei was also under surveillance

The reports also claimed that Israel had planned to assassinate Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, but the attack was averted due to lack of opportunity. US President Donald Trump later claimed that Khamenei's life was saved due to his intervention.
