Muharram 2022: The month of Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar. This month is considered very important for the people of Shia and Sunni Muslim community. This year Muharram is starting from 31st July. The 10th date of Muharram is known as Yaum-e-Ashura. This is the main day of Islam religion. It is said that Hazrat Imam Hussain was martyred in the month of Muharram. Hazrat Imam Hussain was the younger grandson of the founder of Islam, Hazrat Muhammad. In the memory of the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain, on the 10th day of the month of Muharram, people celebrate as mourning, which is called Ashura. Ashura is a day of mourning. When is Ashura in India?

In India this year Muharram started on 31st July. In such a situation, Ashura will be on Tuesday, August 09. Ashura will also take place in Pakistan and Bangladesh on August 9. On the other hand, in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Bahrain and other Arab countries, Muharram started on July 30, due to which Ashura will be there on August 8.

Historical importance of Ashura

According to the beliefs of Islam, about 1400 years ago, on the day of Ashura, Imam Hussain was beheaded in the battle of Karbala and there is a tradition of taking out processions and tazia in his memory on this day. On the day of Ashura, Muslims who believe in Timurid rituals mourn this day by burying or cooling the Tajis-Akhadas along with Roza-Namaz.

Shia community takes out Tazia

On the day of Ashura, people of the Shia community in Islam take out Tazia and celebrate mourning. There is a tomb of Hazrat Imam Hussein in Iraq, similar to the tomb, a tazia is made and a procession is taken out.

In Islam, there is no festival but a day of mourning, in which Shia Muslims mourn for ten days in memory of Imam Hussain. Imam Hussain was the grandson of the Messenger of Allah, the Prophet Muhammad.
