Sharad Pawar's statement came after sporadic incidents of violence in some areas along the Maharashtra-Karnataka border. Amid rising border row with Maharashtra, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday said harmony between the people of the two states should not be disturbed and vowed his government to protect the state's borders and the interests of Kannada-speaking people here and in other states. expressed commitment.

He also said that he is confident that Karnataka will win the legal battle over the border dispute as the state's stand is both legal and constitutional. Bommai's statement comes amid reports that a ministerial delegation from Maharashtra, which was expected to visit Belagavi, may not turn up today. In the statements of some Maharashtra leaders, his (Bommai's) government was also accused of raising the border issue keeping in mind the upcoming elections.

In response to a question, he said, Karnataka's stand on the upcoming assembly elections and the border issue is not related to each other, Maharashtra has been raising this issue for many years. As Maharashtra stirs controversy, response comes from Karnataka. The Chief Minister said that there is harmony between the people of both the states and it should not be disturbed.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday said he would ask his Maharashtra counterpart Eknath Shinde to stop his cabinet colleagues from visiting Belagavi as their visit could affect the law and order situation in the border district. He had also given instructions to the concerned officials about the steps to be taken in the event of the leaders visiting and made it clear that the government would not hesitate to take legal action.
