A major and serious controversy has erupted in the country's political and artistic circles over the removal of photographs belonging to Raihan Vadra, the son of Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and nephew of Rahul Gandhi, from an art exhibition. Raihan Vadra has leveled serious allegations through social media posts against the administration, keeping this entire matter in the constant spotlight. The name of Raihan Vadra has been a major subject of discussion since Thursday morning, and this incident has once again ignited a national-level debate concerning freedom of expression.
According to the information received, this entire sequence of events unfolded at the prestigious Bikaner House in New Delhi, where an art exhibition by Raihan Vadra was scheduled to take place. More than seventy photographs of Raihan Vadra were abruptly removed from this exhibition, which quickly escalated the matter into a full-blown controversy. Several prominent Congress leaders, including Robert Vadra and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, have come forward in open support of Raihan Vadra during this challenging time. Amidst this escalating dispute, an official clarification from Bikaner House has also been released, citing their institutional policies.
What Is The Entire Controversy And Raihan Vadra's Allegations
This entire controversy came to light when young photographer and artist Raihan Vadra shared a post on the social media platform Instagram, directly raising serious questions about the functioning of the Bikaner House administration. Raihan wrote in his post that he was forcibly asked to remove his photographs. He also disclosed that he was asked to remove two photographs related to the national flag, although he firmly refused to do so, while according to available information, following this entire upheaval and the removal of the photographs, only forty pictures now remain in Raihan's exhibition.
Presenting his side, Raihan Vadra stated that he had submitted all necessary information regarding his exhibition to the Bikaner House administration by three-thirty Wednesday afternoon. However, at the very last moment, more than seventy of his photographs were removed. This art exhibition of Raihan Vadra was organized at Bikaner House in Delhi and was scheduled to begin at seven o'clock on Thursday evening. The sudden removal of such a large number of photographs at the eleventh hour created panic and dismay among artists and organizers alike.
The Issue Intensifies Over Delhi Protests And The National Flag
According to sources and reports, Raihan Vadra had featured some photographs related to the Delhi protests in his exhibition, which were forcibly removed by the Bikaner House administration just before the event, while elaborating on this, Raihan stated that instructions were issued by the administration to remove the tricolor as well. Along with this, a strict order to remove the photographs of the Delhi protests was also issued by the Bikaner House administration. The administration argued that these photographs were controversial and that if they weren't removed, the exhibition wouldn't be permitted to take place.
Official Statement By The Bikaner House Society
According to reports citing PTI, an official statement from the Bikaner House Society has also been released regarding this ongoing controversy and uproar. Providing clarification on the matter, the Bikaner House Society stated that certain photographs displayed under Raihan Vadra's exhibition titled 'No Idea Is Final' at Bikaner House weren't found to be in conformity with the policy of the Bikaner House Management Society. Due to this technical and administrative reason, a request was made to remove them.
The Society further clarified in its official statement that the remaining photographs of the exhibition are still on display, while the statement added that Bikaner House is a public cultural institution dedicated to the promotion of art and culture. It was also emphasized that all exhibitions held here and their associated activities must strictly conform to the established policy of the Bikaner House Management Society to maintain the dignity of the institution.
Reaction From Priyanka Gandhi And Robert Vadra
Following the emergence of this entire sequence of events, Raihan Vadra received strong support from his mother and senior Congress party leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Taking a firm stand for her son, Priyanka Gandhi stated that she's extremely proud of her son Raihan and will always stand resolutely by his side. Expressing her sentiments on social media, Priyanka Gandhi wrote that when power becomes fearful of freedom of expression, one must understand that its own strength has come to an end.
Raihan Vadra also received full and open support from his father, Robert Vadra. Speaking to the media and the public, Robert Vadra stated that he's immensely proud of his son. He clarified that Raihan's art exhibition has no connection whatsoever with politics. Robert Vadra stated that Raihan is a professional photo artist and had captured some photographs during the Delhi protests, which form an essential part of his creative artistic vision. Thus, amid family backing and administrative statements, this matter has now transformed into a major debate encompassing art, politics, and freedom of expression, capturing nationwide attention.
