Major Relief! CJP Leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka Granted Bail by SEM Court, Release Orders Issued

Cockroach Janata Party leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka have been granted bail by the SEM Court. Both leaders were lodged in Tihar Jail for the past eight days after being accused of jumping barricades at Jantar Mantar.

In a significant legal development, major relief has emerged for Cockroach Janata Party leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka. The SEM Court has officially granted bail to CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, ordering their immediate release from custody. Following the court's directives, the official release orders for both leaders have also been issued, paving the way for their exit from incarceration.

Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das had been languishing in judicial custody inside Delhi's Tihar Jail for the past eight days. Both leaders were produced before the court today upon the completion of their two-day extension of judicial custody. Delhi Police had detained both leaders of the Cockroach Janata Party on October 13. The authorities had leveled serious allegations against them, stating that they had jumped over the security barricades deployed at Jantar Mantar and forcefully entered a restricted zone.

Following the incident, adhering to standard legal procedures, the court had sent Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka to five days of judicial custody on October 14. Subsequently, on October 19, their judicial custody was extended for another two days. Today, which marks Wednesday, their extended judicial custody was coming to an end. The SEM Court heard the case involving Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das and ultimately ordered their release on bail. With this judicial order, their release documentation has been duly processed and issued.

Strict Remarks Made by the Delhi High Court

In pursuit of legal remedies, both individuals had also approached the Delhi High Court seeking intervention. During the proceedings, the High Court made sharp and critical observations regarding Cockroach Janata Party spokesperson Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka. While hearing the petition challenging their continued judicial custody, the bench remarked that they weren't Gen-Z.

During the course of the hearing, the court specifically inquired about the exact ages of both political workers. Responding to the judicial inquiry, their legal counsel stated that Ashutosh Ranka is 31 years of age, while Saurav Das is 27 years old. The legal discussions continued around the facts and circumstances of the case.

Decision to Withdraw the High Court Petition

During the hearing at the Delhi High Court, the bench informed their advocates that October 21—today—was the scheduled date for the magistrate to hear the matter concerning the judicial custody of Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das. The court indicated that they might secure relief directly from the lower forum. The High Court advised their counsel that if they failed to secure relief on that day, they remained at liberty to file a fresh application. The court specifically noted that they could file an application under the writ of habeas corpus if needed.

Following this legal guidance from the High Court, the legal counsel representing both leaders decided to withdraw their pending petition from the High Court. After the withdrawal, the matter proceeded before the SEM Court today, where the favorable ruling was delivered, granting them much-needed bail. This brings an end to their eight-day detention period, and supporters of the Cockroach Janata Party can now expect their leaders to walk out of Tihar Jail following the fulfillment of release formalities.
