Mizoram Election: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday accused Mizo National Front (MNF) and Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) of being unofficial agents of BJP. Kharge said that both these major political parties of Mizoram are working as unofficial agents of BJP. Let us tell you that under the elections for all 40 assembly seats of Mizoram, votes will be cast on 7th November and counting of votes will take place on 3rd December. MNF had performed brilliantly in the last assembly elections and Zoramthanga became the Chief Minister.

‘We deliver what we promise’

Kharge said in a post on 'X', 'Rajiv Gandhi brought peace to Mizoram through a peace accord in 1986 and ensured statehood in 1987. The Congress Party has always been committed to the progress of the country. BJP-RSS are against diversity and they want to snatch away the property, precious land and forests of tribals for the benefit of their friends. MNF and ZPM are working as unofficial agents of BJP. The people of Mizoram deserve peace, prosperity and progress. Whatever we promise, we fulfill it.

Congress had lost badly in the 2018 elections.

In his post, Kharge further wrote that our guarantee for the state of Mizoram will usher in welfare, inclusive progress and economic security. Let us tell you that Zoramthanga-led Mizo National Front had performed brilliantly in the 2018 Mizoram Assembly elections, winning 26 out of 40 seats. At the same time, Congress, which won 34 seats in the 2013 assembly elections, was reduced to only 5 seats in 2018. The bad fate of the party can be gauged from the fact that the then CM Lal Thanhawla, who contested the elections from two seats, lost from both the seats. The newly formed party ZPM had won 8 seats in those elections.
