Coronavirus | Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Wednesday that the government is going to start a new campaign against the corona infection disease from next month. Under the 'Har Ghar Dastak' campaign, health workers will go door-to-door to vaccinate people. During this time, people deprived of the second dose as well as those who have not received a single dose so far will also be given the vaccine.

The Health Minister said that the main focus will be on those 48 districts of the country, where less than 50 percent of the population of 18 years of age or above has been vaccinated against Corona. Mandaviya made the announcement after a meeting with health ministers of states and union territories. Recently, the success of 100 crore Kovid vaccines has been achieved in the country. However, the pace of vaccination is slow in some parts of the country. The reasons for this include lack of awareness among people, hesitation about vaccines and geographical constraints.

11 crore people did not take the second dose despite the passage of time

More than 11 crore people who have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine have not received a second dose even after the stipulated interval between two doses has elapsed. Statistics show that more than 3.92 crore beneficiaries have not taken a second dose for more than 6 weeks. Similarly, about 1.57 crore people have taken their second dose of Covishield or Covaxin by four to six weeks and more than 15 crore by two to four weeks late.

Children's vaccines also discussed

During the review meeting, the children's Kovid vaccine was also discussed. Indian company Bharat Biotech, manufacturer of the Kovid vaccine, has developed the Covaxin vaccine for children. Its emergency use has been recommended by the subject expert committee. It is now awaiting the approval of the Drug Controller General of India. Zydus, the second vaccine for children, has been included in the 'Kovid Vaccine List' by the World Health Organization for use in emergency. Mandaviya has said that the process of approving both the vaccines is going on and it is under the jurisdiction of the expert committee. The government will not interfere in this process.
