Corona in Mumbai / Mayor hints with decline in cases, Mumbai may be 'unlocked' by February end

There has been a significant decline in the cases of corona virus infection in Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra. With this, Mayor Kishori Pednekar indicated on Tuesday that restrictions could be eased in the city by the end of this month and all activities could be resumed.

On Monday, only 356 new cases of corona infection were registered in Mumbai. This is the lowest number of people exposed in a day since December 21, 2021. According to the Health Department, the case positivity rate in Mumbai has also come down to 1.10 percent and the situation is improving.

Mumbai will meet the target of 100% vaccination in a week

The mayor said that within a week the city would achieve the target of 100% vaccination. Citing additional commissioner of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Suresh Kakani, the mayor said the city could be unlocked by the end of this month. This is good news for all.

Wear a mask and follow the rule of physical distance seriously

He said that all the stalled activities should be resumed at the earliest. People will have to wear masks as per the rules and also follow physical distance. Earlier this month also, some restrictions were relaxed after seeing the decreasing pace of corona infection in Mumbai.

Reliefs were given on February 1 after the cases of Corona decreased

On February 1, the BMC had allowed all tourist places, restaurants and theaters to start operations with 50 per cent capacity. Apart from this, the rule of night curfew was also removed. The new guidelines of BMC will be applicable till February 28. After this all restrictions are expected to be lifted.
