Afghanistan / Meeting confirmed between Pakistan's ISI chief and Mullah Baradar

The Taliban on Monday confirmed that Pakistan's powerful intelligence leader Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed has met its de-facto chief Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, amidst efforts by the insurgent group to finalise a government in Afghanistan.


Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Director-General Lt. Gen. Hameed dashed to Kabul on an unannounced visit the last week, becoming the only high-rating overseas official to visit Kabul for the reason that Taliban seized the Afghan capital in mid-August.


During a press convention in Kabul on Monday, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid showed that the ISI leader had met with Mullah Baradar throughout his go to Kabul, BBC Urdu mentioned.

The Taliban has assured Islamabad that Afghan territory will now no longer be used in opposition to Pakistan, it stated.


Earlier, Pakistani media reported that a delegation of senior officers led via way of means of Lt Gen Hameed became in Kabul on the invitation of the Taliban, however, the insurgent organization stated that Islamabad had proposed his go to Kabul.

On Sunday, the Taliban stated that the top Pakistani spy was in Afghanistan to enhance bilateral relations among Kabul and Islamabad.


Ahmadullah Wasiq, deputy head of the Taliban’s Cultural Commission, stated that the Taliban leaders talked with Lt. Gen. Hameed about bilateral relations and the problems of Afghan passengers on the Torkham and Spin Boldak passes between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
