The country is celebrating its 79th Independence Day. Independence Day 2025: On 15 August 2025, India celebrated its 79th Independence Day with full enthusiasm and pride. On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort and gave his longest speech of 103 minutes. He described Independence Day as a great festival of 140 crore resolutions and called it a proud moment of collective achievements. In his speech, the PM emphasized on self-reliance, national security, technological progress, and socio-economic reforms, as well as gave strong messages to Pakistan and the US. Operation Sindoor: Salute to the brave soldiers

The Prime Minister saluted the bravery of the soldiers involved in Operation Sindoor. He said that after the brutal attack by terrorists in Pahalgam on April 22, the Indian Army gave a befitting reply to the enemies. The army entered hundreds of kilometers inside the enemy's land and destroyed the terrorist hideouts. PM said, "Our army did what was not done for decades. Terrorist buildings turned into ruins."

Strict message to Pakistan

Warning Pakistan directly, PM said that India will no longer be afraid of nuclear threats. Putting terrorism and its supporters in the same category, he said, "We do not consider terrorists and their supporters as different. India will no longer tolerate blackmail. The army has a free hand, and it will decide the time, strategy, and target itself."

Indus Water Treaty: Tough stand in the interest of farmers

Calling the Indus Water Treaty unjust, PM said that it has been harmful for the farmers of India. He said, "The water of the rivers originating from India is irrigating the fields of the enemies, while our farmers are yearning for water. This agreement is no longer acceptable. India only wants its right over its water."

Atmanirbhar Bharat: Foundation of defense and economy

Emphasizing self-reliance, PM said that slavery had made India dependent, but now the country is on the path of self-reliance. He cited Operation Sindoor as an example of the power of Made in India weapons. The PM said, "Efforts made for self-reliance in the defense sector in the last 10 years are now yielding results."

Technology: The power of the 21st century

The Prime Minister stressed on technological self-reliance and said that India has to become self-reliant in areas like semiconductors, jet engines, and cyber security. He appealed to young scientists and engineers to develop jet engines for Made in India fighter jets. Also, emphasised on developing indigenous technology for electric vehicles (EV) and solar panels.

GST reforms: Gift on Diwali

The PM announced that major reforms will be made in GST this Diwali, which will make everyday items cheaper and reduce the tax burden of common people. This move will bring great relief to the common citizens.

Sudarshan Chakra Mission: New initiative for national security

Referring to the occasion of Janmashtami, the PM announced the Sudarshan Chakra Mission. This mission will be launched to strengthen national security and deal with new forms of warfare. In the next 10 years, indigenous technology and talent of youth will be used under this mission.

Task Force for Next Generation Reforms

The PM announced the formation of a task force for 21st century-friendly policies and laws. This task force will fulfill the goal of making India a developed nation by 2047 in a time-bound manner.

Praise on RSS's 100th birth anniversary

The Prime Minister praised the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for its service to the nation on its 100th birth anniversary. He said, "This organization dedicated to the welfare of Maa Bharti for 100 years is the largest NGO in the world. Its service, dedication, and discipline are inspiring."

High Power Demography Mission

Describing the conspiracy to change the demography and infiltration in the border areas as a threat to national security, the PM announced the launch of High Power Demography Mission. This mission will deal with threats like infiltration and Naxalism.

Pradhan Mantri Vikasit Bharat Rojgar Yojana

Giving great news for the youth, the PM launched the Pradhan Mantri Vikasit Bharat Rojgar Yojana worth Rs 1 lakh crore. Under this, youth getting their first job in the private sector will be given assistance of Rs 15,000.

Dedication to farmers, livestock farmers and fishermen

The PM said that farmers, livestock farmers, and fishermen are the priority of the country. He promised that the government will not make any compromise to protect their interests.
