MLA Vikas Chaudhary Urges CM to Address Ajmer Farmers' Grievances

Kishangarh MLA Dr. Vikas Chaudhary has written to Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma highlighting the plight of Ajmer's farmers. He demanded immediate MSP procurement, compensation for crop damage, and infrastructure improvements in agricultural mandis.

Dr. Vikas Chaudhary, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Kishangarh, has formally addressed a letter to Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, drawing attention to the deteriorating condition of farmers and agricultural markets in the Ajmer district. The communication emphasizes the urgent need for government intervention to address systemic issues ranging from procurement delays to infrastructure failures in the region's agricultural sector.

Impact of Natural Calamities and Compensation Delays

In his letter, MLA Dr. Chaudhary highlighted that farmers across the Ajmer district are currently facing a dual crisis, while excessive rainfall, hailstorms, and various crop diseases have Importantly damaged agricultural output. According to the MLA, while natural disasters have devastated the crops, insurance companies have failed to provide timely and adequate compensation to the affected farmers. This lack of financial support has pushed the farming community into a state of severe economic distress.

Challenges in MSP Procurement and Portal Access

The MLA pointed out significant hurdles in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) procurement process. He specifically mentioned the situation in Rupangarh Tehsil, where the token registration portal remained operational for only 3 hours before being closed. This brief window prevented a large number of farmers from registering their produce for government procurement. Consequently, farmers are finding it difficult to sell their crops at support prices, leading to widespread frustration and a sense of being neglected by the administrative machinery.

Infrastructure Deficiencies at Kishangarh Mandi

Sharing observations from his recent visit to the Kishangarh Krishi Mandi, Dr. Chaudhary informed the Chief Minister about the lack of basic facilities, while despite a high influx of agricultural produce, there are insufficient platforms to store the crops. As a result, farmers are forced to keep their produce under the open sky, while recent rains have led to the soaking and subsequent damage of large quantities of grain. The MLA noted that the sight of ruined crops has caused immense emotional and financial pain to the farmers, who are also struggling with low market prices.

Key Demands for Policy Intervention

The MLA has put forward several critical demands to the state government to alleviate the farmers' suffering. He has urged the immediate commencement of MSP-based procurement across the state to ensure price stability. On top of that, he requested the Chief Minister to expedite the payment of pending crop insurance claims. Dr. Chaudhary also proposed the allocation of a special financial package dedicated to improving the infrastructure of agricultural mandis, focusing on the construction of more platforms and storage facilities.

Ensuring Market Stability and Fair Pricing

Concluding his letter, Dr. Chaudhary emphasized the need for a transparent and efficient system in the mandis to prevent potential conflicts between farmers and traders. He stressed that the administration must ensure that farmers receive a respectful and fair price for their produce. The MLA expressed hope that the Chief Minister would take immediate cognizance of these sensitive issues and provide the necessary relief to the agricultural community of Ajmer and the wider Rajasthan region.
