Modi Cabinet Decision: Important decisions have been taken in the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday (January 4) under the leadership of PM Modi. Union Minister Anurag Thakur told that the National Green Hydrogen Mission was approved by the Union Cabinet. Along with this, he informed that India will become a global hub of green hydrogen. 50 lakh tonnes of green hydrogen will be produced every year.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur told that electrolyzer capacity of 60-100 GW will be prepared. 17,490 crore incentive amount will be given on the manufacturing of electrolyzer and production of green hydrogen. A provision of 400 crores has been made to develop the hub of green hydrogen.

'Will get jobs'

Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that Rs 19,744 crore has been approved for the National Green Hydrogen Mission today. There will be a direct investment of Rs 8 lakh crore from this mission and 6 lakh jobs will be provided by it. Apart from this, he said that the 382 MW Sunni Dam Hydroelectric Power Project has been approved for Himachal Pradesh. It will cost Rs 2,614 crore. It will be built on the Sutlej river.

What will Mission Harit do?

The mission will facilitate production, utilization and export of green hydrogen along with creating a demand for it. As part of the strategic intervention for the green hydrogen transition programme, two separate financial incentives have been introduced for domestic manufacturing of electrolyzers and green hydrogen production. Electrolyser is used in the production of green hydrogen.

Let us tell you that in the last meeting of the Union Cabinet held on 23 December, it was decided to distribute free food grains to the poor. Regarding this, Food Minister Piyush Goyal had said that under the National Food Security Act, food grains would be provided free of cost to the poor.

At present, the people getting benefits under this law have to pay one to three rupees per kg for food grains. This decision of the government came at a time when the period of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana was ending on 31 December. The distribution of free food grains to the poor was started in April 2020 during the Kovid-19 pandemic.
