Floods / More than 2 lakh were affected by the Assam floods

Floods in Assam, delayed by 3 months, have affected greater than 2.58 lakh people throughout 16 districts, officers of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) stated Sunday.


Ten of the flood-hit districts are in eastern Assam, and 3 every in important and western Assam, respectively. The worst affected is Lakhimpur with more than 1.05 lakh people on rooftops or in temporary shelters on better ground.


Officials stated the Brahmaputra and numerous of its tributaries have swollen following incessant rains in Assam and adjacent Arunachal Pradesh, wherein erosion has affected dozens of villages withinside the Siang river belt.


According to the ASDMA, 6,218 people have moved into 24 relief camps installation throughout the worst affected districts. Among the flood-hit, 87,337 are women and 47,377 are children.

There has was no document of loss of human lives.


Crops on 16,338.46 hectares of land had been affected even as numerous roads, bridges and different infrastructure had been damaged, the authority stated.
